Lead PPN: Urology
Chris is a 5th year MD/MSHP student planning to pursue a career in urology. Originally from Miami, Florida, he graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with University Honors with a BS in Civil Engineering. From there, he attended Goucher Post Bac for his premedical studies. In medical school, he has enjoyed being a board member of the Latino Medical Student Association and volunteering at University City Hospitality Coalition clinic. Furthermore, Chris was awarded the Agnew Summer Fellowship in Global Surgery where he worked along with a fellow classmate and under the guidance of Dr. Jordan Swanson to develop and conduct a pilot study in Honduras for “El Manual Para El Pueblo” – A pictorial aid for community health workers to identify and refer surgical and medical conditions.
In addition to his role at the Center for Surgical Health, Chris is the Community Outreach Chair for the Agnew Surgical Society, board member of the PENNis: Penn Urology Interest Group, and volunteer translator at the Latinx community clinic – Puentes de Salud. As a David A. Asch Medical Student Scholar in the Master’s in Health Policy Research program, his research interests are in financial toxicity in urologic cancer care and access to surgical care for undocumented/underinsured patients.
In his free time, he enjoys playing club and intramural volleyball, boating, and watching movies.
