Funmi is a 4th year MD student planning to pursue a career in ophthalmology. Originally from Laurel, MD, she graduated from Princeton University in 2016 with an A.B. in Molecular Biology. During medical school, she served as a clinic coordinator for the University City Hospitality Coalition student-run clinic as well as co-president of the Student National Medical Association. Currently she is working in the Cui lab, investigating novel therapies to decrease oxidative stress in glaucoma as well as clinical research involving patient outcomes following ophthalmic laser surgeries. She has an interest in increasing access to specialized care to underserved and underinsured populations as well as improving patient surgical outcomes.
