Lead PPN: Plastics/Hand Surgery
Ginikanwa is a 4th year MD student planning on pursuing a career in plastic surgery. She was born in Nigeria and grew up in Duluth, GA. She graduated from Duke University with a BS in Biology and a minor in chemistry. Before starting medical school, she spent a year conducting research at the National Institutes of Health as an IRTA research fellow. During her time at Penn, Ginikanwa has been involved in diversity and inclusion efforts as the academic chair and medical outreach liaison of SNMA as well as a mentor in the Johnson Scholar's mentoring program and a volunteer in the African Community Learning Program. She is currently involved in the Center for Surgical Health as one of the lead plastics PPN.
In her free time, Ginikanwa enjoys watching anime, caring for her plants (her favorite plant being the Bird of Paradise), and dreaming about having her own puppy one day.
