Omar Ramadan, MD

Associate Director of the CSH Research Lab

Dr. Ramadan is a fourth-year categorical general surgery resident at Penn. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, raised in Kobe, Japan, and has Lebanese roots. He completed his undergraduate studies at Emory University, double majoring in Biology and Economics. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society honors. Dr. Ramadan has a strong interest in health policy and health disparities research as well as global surgery. Currently in his first year in the lab, he is working with Dr. Grace Wang to investigate the impact of state and national health policy on healthcare disparities and outcomes in various vascular surgery subpopulations. Simultaneously, he is pursuing a Masters of Science in Health Policy – supported by Dr. Scott Halpern’s federal T32 grant in Critical Care Health Policy Research – as well as Penn Medicine’s Healthcare Leadership in Quality track. He plans to pursue a career in academic vascular surgery.
