Whitney is a 4th  year MD/MSHP student planning to pursue a career in general surgery. Originally from Austin, Texas, she graduated from Rice University in 2016 with a BS in bioengineering and minor in global health technologies. At Penn, she has spent time volunteering at Covenant House, helping plan the 2017 Philadelphia-area Racism in Medicine conference as a member of Students Opposing Racism in Medicine (StORM), and working on diversity recruitment as a member of the admissions committee and SNMA. She is also on the board for the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) chapter at Penn.

During a year out, Whitney pursued training in health services research as a David A. Asch Medical Student Scholar in the Master's in Health Policy Research program. She is broadly interested in health equity in the provision of surgical care at a global and local scale. She is working on research related to outcomes after trauma/violent injury in children and adolescents.

In her free time, Whitney enjoys singing in choirs, knitting, and reading.
